Here you will find all the frequently asked questions about embroidery and embroidery patterns answered in one place!

How do I get my pattern?

When your purchase is complete, you will receive an email containing a link to download your PDF pattern.

How do I download my pattern?

Simply click on the pattern download link in your email receipt and the PDF will download onto your device. You can then either open the file or save it on your computer, phone, or tablet for later use.

Can I share my patterns with friends and family?

I ask that you please don’t share the patterns. I put a lot of work into each design while making every effort to keep my prices low in addition to offering many sales and coupons throughout the year. If you want to stitch more than one version of a pattern there is no need to purchase the pattern twice, but I would appreciate if you did not share the patterns with others.

Do you offer machine embroidery patterns?

Wandering Threads Embroidery is all about hand embroidery, so no, I don’t offer patterns for machine embroidery. However, you can find a selection of my designs that have been turned into machine embroidery patterns over at JuliasNeedleDesigns.com.

I love these patterns but don’t know anything about embroidery! Help!

No problem! Here at Wandering Threads we are all about teaching and sharing the art of embroidery. I suggest you start by checking out some of the How-To posts and Stitch Tutorials, such as 6 Essential Hand Embroidery Supplies and Basic Embroidery Stitches.

What brand of thread or floss do you recommend?

All of the Wandering Threads patterns use DMC brand embroidery floss. Each pattern comes with recommendations for specific floss colors of 6-standard DMC floss. I recommend this brand because it is widely available in a large range of colors and easy to stitch with. Of course, you are always welcome to use other brands or experiment with alternative types of embroidery floss. You can read more about floss & thread options in my Embroidery Supplies post.

What fabric do you recommend?

In general, you can embroider on any fabric. Cotton, wool, linen, felt, or even denim and leather, can be used as a canvas for creating beautiful embroidery. However, keep in mind that thicker fabrics require sturdier needles, and thinner fabrics have a tendency to pucker when stitching bold embroidery letters or filled in shapes. When in doubt, stick with cotton or cotton-linen blend fabrics with a medium weave.

I only have a 10” hoop and my pattern says it fits a 3” hoop. What do I do?

Each pattern comes with a recommended hoop size or sizes. Many of the patterns include two sizes that will fit in a range of hoop sizes. If you want to change the pattern to fit in a hoop size that is not mentioned in the pattern, simply reduce or enlarge the pattern before printing or on your computer screen. However, it is important to keep in mind that the patterns were designed to fit into certain hoop sizes. Straying too far from the intended size may cause the pattern to lose details or increase the skill level needed for stitching.

How do I get my pattern onto my fabric?

All the Wandering Threads patterns come with simple instructions for transferring onto fabric. For more complete instructions, you can follow the How to Transfer Embroidery Patterns post.

Do you offer free patterns?

Yes! You can find a selection of them on the Free Patterns tab at the top of the menu. More free patterns are added periodically so be sure to check back or sign up for the Wandering Threads mailing list to be notified.

Will you make me a custom pattern?

Absolutely! You can contact me via email for more information: amanda@wanderingthreadsembroidery.com or use the Contact Page.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Because of the instant availability of the product, I cannot offer refunds. However, if you accidentally ordered a duplicate pattern or mistakenly ordered the Utah state pattern instead of the Utah state flower pattern, I can offer a replacement pattern within 30 days.

Will you let me know about new patterns and sales?

It would be my pleasure! Simply sign up for the Wandering Threads Email List and you will be automatically notified of new patterns, sales, and other announcements. As a bonus, signing up for the mailing list gets you a 10% off coupon. I only send out emails every two weeks, and of course, I never share your email address with anyone else.
